Even since graduate school, when I interned at the YMCA Youth Substance Abuse Program, I have adored working with teenagers.  Today, young people face a unique set of challenges.  Growing up has never been easy, but the development of social media platforms for communication and information has meant that many teens are faced with issues that are new to this generation.  Working with this cohort requires a unique set of skills: extreme empathy, the maturity of an experienced therapist, and the ability to speak and understand their vernacular.

A supportive, understanding, and friendly therapist builds a positive and effective alliance with teen clients, increasing confidence, resilience, and internal strength.
